Real Madrid ban Shakira songs from the Bernabeu - report

image

Real Madrid will not play any songs of pop sensation Shakira from now on at the Santiago Bernabeu during home fixtures.

Reports in the Spanish dailies Marca and AS claim that no songs from the Colombian musician will be played at the ground prior to matches.

No explanation has been given by Madrid but there are suspicions in the Spanish media that this situation has arisen because of Shakira’s relationship with Barcelona defender Gerard Pique.

Shakira and Pique’s romantic relationship has now been made public with photos of the couple making the rounds in the media. Given the rivalry between Barcelona and Madrid, it’s been suggested that the Blancos will now stop giving airtime to the 34-year-old’s songs at their venue.

Shakira, though, is a self-confessed Madrid fan and was presented with the number 5 shirt by Florentino Perez during his first tenure as president of the nine-time European champions.

Still Here

As told by Brittany, Santana stayed at Exchange in LA waiting. She doesn’t know why she’s waiting, but she was drunk as hell and didn’t want to leave. There were these guys who kept on hitting on her and trying to take her home with them. Santana was drunk but not drunk enough to do something stupid and not recognize that those people just want one thing from her. She kept on pushing them off but they keep on coming back knowing that she’s drunk. She doesn’t know how much longer she can hold out before the rest of the alcohol she consumed hits her. “Fuck off morons she screamed at the guys, “It aint’ gonna happen” Where’s Brittany? Where’s Puck? Ugh, I’ve messed up again.

State the obvious, I didn’t get my perfect fantasy

I realize you love yourself more than you could ever love me

May 3rd, 1:42pm: Move Your Body Flash Mob with Beyonce

“A little sweat ain’t never hurt nobody.”

Word.

Beyonce has teamed up with first lady Michelle Obama on her “Let’s Move!” initiative in an effort to help fight the rising numbers of childhood obesity in America. She rerecorded her song “Get Me Bodied” transforming it into the kid-friendlier “Move Your Body.”

I like it. I like it a lot. High five ladies!

The video is set to be played on May 3 during a “dance-in” at middle schools across the country. If you’re still a teen in school, or know someone who is, pass the word along! But this isn’t just for students, ANYONE can take part and the video with the choreography is out!

I’ll be learning the choreography this week and (shudder) posting a video on May 3rd! I encourage you to do the same! Come dance with me, if you think you’re up to the challenge. WARNING: I’m an AWESOME hotmess dancer. Bring it! And bring your friends!

For more information on the “Let’s Move!” campaign, check out letsmove.gov.

Soppy alert

I love being a part of fandoms. I know that sounds loser filled but I have genuine friends and amazing days out/experiences thanks to other things.

Paramore being the biggest. So many people say the internet is a bad thing and that it’s corrupted friendship and it’s values but to be honest it’s just enriched mine. It gave me a group of awesome people i would never of met or known and it brought on events that made me even closer to my best friend.

I’m an obsessor without a doubt but jfc am I happy about it.

Lady Gaga: (Ray of) Madonna Light

I’ve talked about the over-hyped pop juggernaut that is Lady Gaga before. In that article from May 2010, I pointed out that Lady Gaga is just Madonna on steroids. Madonna for a new generation of kids to grow up idolizing for her fashion choices and inane bullshit dance club music. Lady Gaga has been tearing pages out of the Madonna playbook for a while now, just check out 3:18 of the “Telephone” video for an example. However, my main distinction between the two was that Madonna actually had some good songs, and after all, this is a blog about music.

I heard “Born This Way” for the first time about a week or two after it came out in February. The very first thing that came to my mind was “This song sounds really familiar…what is it?” Once it got to the chorus, it clicked. “Express Yourself” by Madonna. I’m not saying anyone should be sued for plagiarism here. Saying something like “It’s all been done” is the truth when it comes to music. Every song and every piece today are ripping off something from the past. The greatest musicians, however, find ways to at least hide it a little bit and not wear it openly on their sleeves like a badge of honor.

The point here is that anyone familiar with “Express Yourself” will recognize that “Born This Way” is completely ripping it off and the biggest problem is that “Express Yourself” isn’t even a good Madonna song. They’ve both got a heavy club dance beat, major melodic and harmonic similarities, a synth-heavy backing track, and lyrics about being yourself. This is the kind of music that is only good if you’re either twelve and don’t really know anything about music yet, or drunk at a club and anything with a some heavy four-on-the-floor synth kick drum will satisfy you enough to just dance, as your precious Mother Monster would say.

I’ve had enough of the Mother Monster/Little Monster business, too. Every artist loves their fans. Why wouldn’t they? The artist would be nothing without the fans. Enough of the cult shit. Just buy a t-shirt at the show or on her website and let that speak for you.

But what exactly will it say as it speaks for you? Something along the lines of: “I am twelve and what is this?” “I think coming out of an egg and wearing a meat dress are really good ideas, you guys!” and finally, “I’m a tool who loves flashy imagery so much that it makes me believe this is good music!”

I swear to you, the moment that I hear a good Lady Gaga song, I will come on here and write a review about it. Your move, BlahBlah.
