Would anyone enjoy reading this? Or could your hearts take it?

Basically, it’s an idea for a future!fic.

In it, Blaine is incredibly, wealthy, but detached emotionally from his life. There’s something that’s obviously caused him to be this way, and it’ll be vaguely referenced throughout the entirety of the oneshot. The thing that’s made him so numb is Kurt’s untimely death years previously, shortly after they’d gotten engaged.

At one point, Blaine loses all of his fortune in a stock market crash, and, in a moment of complete and utter desolation, he finds himself standing on the roof of his workplace, idly toeing at the ledge.

A large crowd gathers within minutes, and, knowing that he only has a small window before paramedics and emergency squad arrive, he clenches his teeth; and then, for the first time in eleven years or so, he let’s himself cry. Sobs rip their way from his chest, long overdue, as he steps forward and takes the plunge.

A scream of sorrow and fear escapes him, coming from the pit of his stomach and scraping it’s way along his throat as he falls through the air. His mind repeats a mantra of his beloved’s name, and chants that it’ll be over soon, he won’t feel like this for much longer.

He braces himself for impact, prepares for the fleeting sensation of his spine snapping before his world will go dark.

It never comes.

Coming to a sudden stop, Blaine lets out the breath that he’s been holding and notices warm heat wrapped around his back.

He looks up into the face of the only thing he’s wanted for the past eleven years; the one person who has haunted his thoughts and dreams during the bleak period of the last decade.

The angelic face smiles, and Blaine feels a sense of belonging, of home. That beautiful voice sounds, and Blaine can’t even bring himself to question what is going on as the beautiful being says his name.

And, in that moment, Blaine realizes what is happening, and asks, “Kurt, am I dead?” He also marvels at the use of his late fiancee’s name, which has been absent from his vocabulary for years.

Kurt smiles, sending a burst of warmth throughout Blaine’s entire being. “I’m here.”

Blaine is confused, as he notices that the world around them has frozen, and has taken on a glow of sorts. Women clutch at their faces, men have stilled in the process of racing back and forth. Contemplating Kurt’s answer for a moment, he asks, “What is that supposed to mean?”

“It means that I’m here. And I always promised to catch you when you fall.”

And, even though he has no idea as to what is happening, what his life (or lack thereof) has become, Blaine nods and places a hand on the smooth cheek of his love, his chest aching.

“I never forgot you.”

“I know.”

Kurt whispers those last two words and sets him upright. Only able to stare at Kurt in shock and wonder and love, Blaine simply gapes as the other man grabs his hand.

“Let’s go, Blaine. I’ve been waiting for you.”

I just basically gave you the end. I didn’t intend to, but it just vomited itself from my fingertips.

Does this even make sense? Or am I drunk?

Cough can our next phase be angel!Klaine cough
