I’m tired of pretending that I don’t like something when I do. I’m tired of feeling ashamed because of how harsh people can be. I’m tired of not being myself and feeling like I have to hide what I really like. So here it is: I love the Twilight Saga.
I’m serious. I loved the books from the very beginning. I’ve read them multiple times and I will never get tired of them. I love the story of forbidden love and how a normal girl wants to spend forever with someone who she’s shocked would love her. I relate so much to how Bella feels. She feels like she’s nothing special and is shocked that Edward would ever love her. I know that feeling, and I can totally relate.
I love the aspects of vampirism that Stephenie Meyer has created. People always comment on how vampires aren’t supposed to sparkle. Well, you know what? This is a world that Stephenie Meyer created so vampires can do whatever the hell she wants them to. That’s one of the things I love about Stephenie’s vampires. I love that they sparkle and are as hard and cold as stone statues and the most beautiful creatures on earth and don’t have fangs and their eyes change color. It’s deviating from the stereotypical vampire image, and I like that. It’s called creativity.
I love the way that Stephenie writes. I think she is an amazing author and she is a huge role model for me because I want to be an author. I hope to be as good as her one day. In some ways, I like the Twilight Saga more than the Harry Potter series (even though I hate having to compare the two to each other because they’re so different). First of all, the Twilight Saga is told in first-person, which I like better than the third-person that HP is told in. Also, there are some ways that Twilight seems more realistic. Although both series are fantasy, Twilight seems more real to me. Under the supernatural, it’s a teenage love story.
And now on to the movies. Sure, they’re not phenomenal and not as good as the books (but what movie ever is?!). But they aren’t given as much credit as they deserve, in my opinion. And I love the actors that were chosen. And I’m so tired of people ragging on Kristen Stewart. I think she is a great actress. And I can pretty much guarantee that she is more talented than any of you that put her down. And even though Robert Pattinson wasn’t my personal first choice to play Edward, I think he’s done a really good job and I’ve grown to love him. The rest of the Cullen family I absolutely adore, and I would love to be a part of a family like that.
All in all, I love every aspect of the series. And if I were in Bella’s position,in the end I would pick the exact same thing she did, without a single doubt. I wouldn’t hesitate if it meant being with the person I love forever. And I’m terrified of death so that would be another plus.
I understand that there will be people that don’t like the series (whether it’s the books, the movies, or both), but a simple statement to that effect is all that’s needed. To compare the 2 and put down one while glorifying the other is over the line. No one likes for the fandoms they’re a part of to constantly be disrespected. But from now on, I don’t care what anyone thinks. I love the Twilight Saga and the insults from immature people will just get them unfollowed from now on. I don’t need you to like it…I just need you to respect it.
